According to the information given in the preliminary report of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics 2022, the population of the country is now 16 crores 51 lakh 58 thousand 616. Among them, the number of men is 8 crore 17 lakh 12 thousand 824 people and the number of women is 8 crore 33 lakh 47 thousand 206 people.
Before this, according to the 2011 census, the population of the country was 14 crore 40 lakh 43 thousand 697 people. Among them, the number of men was more than women.
That is, the number of women has increased more than men in the country in the last ten years.
However, there is a question of whether the data collection of this census has been appropriate or not.
The reasons behind the increase in the number of women to men:
Mainly the increase in the life expectancy of girls and migration is one of the most important reasons for the increase in the number of women. According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, the average life expectancy of women in Bangladesh is 74.2 years. And men 71.1 years.
Again, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) 'World Population Situation 2021' report said that the average life expectancy of women in Bangladesh is 75 years, while the average life expectancy of men is 71 years. That is, the average life expectancy of women in Bangladesh is 3-4 years more than that of men.
