Khulna Division:

After the partition of the country in 1947 during the British rule, three divisions were formed in the then East Pakistan namely Dhaka, Chittagong and Rajshahi. The present Khulna division was then under Rajshahi division and Barisal division was under Dhaka division. Later in 1970, a separate journey started from the then Rajshahi division to Kushtia, Jessore and Khulna and from Bakerganj of Dhaka division to Khulna division.

Geographical location of Khulna:

Khulnadivision is bounded on the west by the state of West Bengal, on the north by Rajshahi division, on the east by Dhaka division and Barisal division, on the south by the famous mangrove forest "Sundarbans" and the coastline on the Bay of Bengal. It is a part of the Greater Bengal Delta. Other rivers here include Kopotaksh, Bhairab and Madhumati. Moreover, there are several islands in the Bay of Bengal in this region.
